Monday...
I'm making a conscious effort to dress for 'work' when I go to class. It is, after all, one of my workplaces.
CLOTHES MAKE THE MAN - "Appearances count for a lot. A similar expression was current among the ancient Greeks: 'The garment makes the man.' In the form 'apparel makes the man' the idea turned up in England as early as the 16th century. A century later it was sometimes put as 'the taylor makes the man." From "The Dictionary of Cliches" by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985). A second source points out that a similar phrase was used by William Shakespeare in "Hamlet."
I know you can't judge a book by the cover but it certainly raises your attitude and those of people meeting you.
Class went well. T wasn't there so we had K. Came to Trip's door.
Richard gave me a scene from Hooters to look over. I'm not sure I'm the right age group but hey, if I was going for the part in the real world, I'd make it work and I'm gonna with the scene too!
Called M agency and spoke to W to fix up an appointment. He asked me what I was doing right then and could I go over and see him. Well, I was dressed for work and had my hs & resumes in my bag so I was good to go. See what happens when you're ready for anything...
Met with W and he told me that M's recommendation carried a lot of weight and that was pretty much the only reason I was sitting opposite him. I told him (in not so many words) that I'd live upto it.
The meeting was brief, very friendly and business-like. He told me the most important thing was to 'book out' as if he sends me for an audition I had better make it unless my Mother was close to expiring. That would be the only acceptable reason for missing an audition. I told him I agreed and he said that the only way he made money was when I made money and seeing as he was at work most days submitting for 12 hours straight, I'd better come up with the goods! quote "If you make every audition I send you for, we'll be just hunky dorey" unquote. I like this guy!!
He also told me I need new photos and I told him that I was already on it. I'm booked next Friday with a superb photographer. Can' wait!
Also met with the commercial agent, A, and he seemed great too!
Pulled my shots up online for W to see and he said that wecould work with those ones to begin with. BTW, W is a HUGE Elvis fan!
So... today I signed up with a Theatrical agent!! Yeehaaaaaaaa.
Phoned M, M & C to emote down the 'phone! I'm so pleased!
Celebrated with Mexican lasagne which was.... not bad!
Litt'un is having a blast at the moment. Yapping away about all sorts of things.
He always asks if he can come to work with me and whether or not I'm going to go in an 'airplane' again today or maybe I'm taking 'our car' to the store.
He's also saying that he wants to 'go to the store and buy something'. V cute.
Watched Napoleon Dynamite. It was, of course, pretty brainless but very funny noththeless. NOW I KNOW why everyone was wearing "Vote for Pedro" teeshorts last year!
