Blighty comes to Tinseltown

Thursday and SR no.7, Le Roy Goldman. In a change to my rendition of last week, my new interpretation was very well received by T. It really worked. Y had me crying over a grave (3 times!) and M had me reading graves in their SRs, nice to be wanted, eh!
Home and out to UTS to exercise the monkey!
Chased another funding source (they fund anything from 300K to 6M) for R's horror screenplay, I think it might actually be a good match.
Called my theatrical agent to subtly ask if I was still repped by them (having not heard form them for 6 months - heavy hint, eh) and both lines rang out. Maybe they just aren't trying or maybe they're just so busy, they can't answer the phones. Hum...

Rehearsal with K for section 2 of Pillowman
Rehearsal with M for SR and discuss the scene for filming.
Chased up funding leads for a couple of scripts.
Spent the rest of the day and evening filming with G for the 'secret' web project. I can't tell you anything about it really other than when it breaks, it will be pretty amazing (even if I do say so myself). Awesome writing and direction.
Emails to 1am!!

Tuesday - paperwork, headshot to a writer, organised the studio, checked the breakdowns, chased SC for info (cryptic, eh!), read The Pillowman, read the secret web project, emails.
Quote for the day "Devotion to the motion will give you the emotion" (dancing with the stars!!) - meaning if you really do the doing (remember, acting is doing), the emotion will follow. You cannot try and feel emotion just for the sake of it. You have to do the doing. Nuff said. zzzzzzzz

Monday - Class. K and I present the first section of The Pillowman and it goes REALLY well! We cleared the space of furniture and made it as bear as we could. Totally focused on each other, open and affected by each other, hit all the moments - it was great. Kath took the class as T had to take his missus to the hospital (preggers with their 4th kid - blimey - that'll teach him to buy his party balloons at the 99c store)!
R gave me a script to pass by the funding peeps - looks like a teen slasher movie - nice!
Anyhoo, picked up the monkey and hit the park for 4 hours - I am such a GOOD Daddy. Chatted to the other parents about... well... kiddie things I suppose.

Sunday was a day of rest and a visit to the wondrous 99c store on La Brea. You might think that these stores are filled to the brim with cheap and nasty crap. Well... they are for the most part but there really are some bargains! Cool Halloween stuff (hey, I know I'm sad but I have a kid, OK??) and various little gems tucked away just waiting to be discovered. Interesting clientele, of course, but that's the rich tapestry of L.A.!

Saturday was a play day and we headed to the park to meet N and her dad. Her mum is at home with the new baby, ahhh. She had brought a friend from her school and she spent most of the time fending off my littl'un who, until the friend showed up, was her 'best friend'. Ah, how fickle girls can be. Of course, littl'un was unabashed and didn't seem to notice that N was being rather horrid to him! Three year olds, eh!
Strange medical fair going on nearby where lots of people were, how shall we say, smoking their medication!! Yes, it was a 'legal' weed gathering - we're very progressive in this part of the world, let me tell you. Rumour has it that Arnold was there with his wife and his terminally ill mother-in-law who, apparently, uses the 'plant' for relief of her symptoms. The rumour was told to us by a man who looked like he had smoked a little too much medication and was a little too relaxed if you catch my meaning!
Home again and we watched Dougal, an animated film with most of the characters from The Magic Roundabout although it didn't remotely look or sound anything like its UK TV incarnation. Fairly entertaining (if you're three) on its own, though.
Sat and sorted out stacks of photos for a couple of hours. Lots of pics of the littl'un - it's amazing how much he's changed in his short life already.

Friday - rehearsed with K. Decided to rehearse the scene in a dark cupboard to simulate a prison cell. It's amazing how much things improve when you give yourself some assistance with the physicals of the scene. A cramped, dark closet was exactly what we needed to move the scene along. K is going to work on watching as many scary movies and reading as many scary stories as he can to help his preparation.
Home again and out to the garden to play in the dirt - fabbo! Littl'un and I worked on left and right and he seems to get it!
Watched a Lyndley mystery in the eve - excellent!
