Blighty comes to Tinseltown

Littl'un didn't go to drop off today as he's too ill. Still hot but not as hot as he was. Went to the office and did some work. More cheques coming for CC. Yesssss!
Monkey slept a lot today and he's still nursing a slight fever. I'm starting to fell ill too. Kids are so generous with their illnesses! Got my clothes together for tomorrow's shoot. Watched HP & The Goblet of Fire. Excellent.

Wednesday.
Met Rich for a run thru of the scene. Met by a bus stop on a bench. Did a door and activity. Went very well. Very loose and real.
S was very sick but couldn't find a cover so he had to take the class. Worked with Y and everything was fine except for my activity which needs to be deeper. Fairy 'nuff.
Checked out studio 3 as a possible venue for the shoot. Might be too small. Need to email T about possibly using St2.
Gary has a DP and Tanya will do hair & makeup for free!
Movie meeting and we did the spine for J's character. B and I will need to rehearse the scene if we want to shoot it soon (and I do).
Littl'un very sick. Temp of 103. Lots of water and early to bed. Cooled down a lot.
Still haven't heard about BK. I'm sure I haven't got it. Damn.

Tuesday...
Went to visit the D's in their new Agoura Hills place. Very very nice. Loads of space. High ceilings and wonderful hilltop views. R played with Q and they were both having a great time. Baby C is doing well, growing up by the day.
Drove home via shopping (of course), bought a ton of plants!

Had a quick rehearsal with Rich on Sunset. We're doing a scene from Hooters which is very funny. Totally not me but I want to do it anyway. Our rehearsal was great, went really well. Off to class. Gave B my script and let him read it. I told him I was interested in him being Chad. He read it and seemed quite impressed. In fact, half way thru clas he leant over and commented on some of the dialogue (so it was obviously on his mind). Today (every Monday) is scene work class with T. Everyone was incredibly connected and R & I finished up the class with our first read. Hilarious! Felt really focused and we had the class in stiches. Not many of them had heard me say 'pussy' before! Anyway, T said we had done great and to rehearse with and activities to see if this would move the scene in unexpected ways. I'm sure it will.
Had a movie meeting at Y's and we wrote a spine for me. I passed my script to Y to ask her comments. This opened a general discussion where I asked R to direct it and we all chated about location etc etc.
Home again. Dins and bath. I was feeling really tired so I went for a liedown and ended up sleeping until midnight. So I just went back to sleep. zzzzz

Up early (there's a shocker). Fun and games as always.
Off to San Bernadino (about an hour and a half away) to visit some of M's family. Brought the doggie with us too. Not fair leaving her home all day.
Had a great time although the Claratin I had taken to combat my cat allergy was about as effective as a chocolate fire door. It was c r a p. Within an hour, I was sniffing and my breathing was short. We still had a great time though. Met M&R's son & daughter in law who were both very funny (nice too). Headed home via WM and had a quick snooze (littl'un was out sparko in his chair) while M shopped.
Hit the net at home, emailed a couple of peeps from the G show, my agent with my availability for next week and an intro to a band organiser which may lead to some singing work. We'll see. Oh, R phoned me to ask if we could rehearse at 8am tomorrow. Uh huh, yes definitely! My work week starts at 9am guys. Toddler and family before that. This isn't a 'I'll do whatever it takes to be successful' argument - One has to draw the line somewhere or else work takes over completely. It's hard enough when I'm away from home in hotels and the like without having to do it in LA too.

Ticket search for B. Endless calls and emails. R hates me! GOT two tickets.
Called B. - oh , it's too late. They can't come. Apparently, philanthropists plan their days before noon! Great.
Two shows. Both went incredibly well. Interesting variations on the lines in both shows! Both 90-95% full. Had a walk around the Villa between shows. Nice night. Great energy in the dark. C & M, M & W, Rich & their mum all came. They all loved it and were v complimentary. Lots of hugs, kisses and celebrations backstage after the show. Many au revoirs rather than goodbyes. "We'll do this again very soon, I know it. Someone will pick it up". Who knows... this is LA after all.
So ends another gig. Another credit on the resume. Out of work in LA again! Hey ho. Hopefully not for long....

Friday...
Called Rich and rescheduled scene rehearsal for Monday.
Had a callback for BK in Santa Monica. Holy crap, SM Blvd was terrible! Went in and waited about 20 minutes before going in with two others. We lined up, slated and were then asked to give a 'nervous' smile for about 15 seconds. "Thank you". Yep, that's it. A callback with the Director and client takes less time than it takes to boil a kettle. Hey ho. No worries.
Drove home and played with the littl'un. C came over and M & I left around 5.15. Got a call from Judy to tell me I was on 'strong avail' for BK. Yeehaa! Think positive, think positive! (I was on strong avail for ebay but never got it).
Got to the Villa around 6.15 and M was introduced to all the lovely chaps in my dressing room! As each arrived they introduced themselves to her and then engaged in the happy banter that is our intellectual warm-up before each show.
Vocal warm up and then the show. Almost a full house (which is a bloody miracle considering the ticket fiasco) and they were superb. The show was very tight and we had more than a few opportunities to milk some of the dialogue. The 'dogs' scene was shameless. I'm almost embarassed as to the amount we played about with it (almost, I said). Anyway. everyone did really well and the audience loved it.
M, Ju & Aug were all very complimentary. We had time to chat for about 5 minutes before security directed us to the lobby and just as we got to the lobby, they dimed the ceiling lights. Great. We moved out to the square in front of the theatre and had another five minutes chat before security told to bugger off home. Un-bloody-believeable. A great night, though. Smiles all around.
