New Year's Eve... up at 6.45am. Guess who. Watched Thomas the Tank, Dora, Franklin and various other kid's progs! Fabbo.
Here are some of my other photos from years past...

Read an interesting list of 'Things we didn't know this time last year' so I thought I'd drop the link here for your delight and delectation. It is, of course, fairly UK-centric. Some of the more interesting ones are:
1. The UK's first mobile phone call was made 20 years ago this year, when Ernie Wise rang the Vodafone head office, which was then above a curry shop in Newbury.
11. One in 10 Europeans is allegedly conceived in an Ikea bed.
23. In America it's possible to subpoena a dog.
27. Only in France and California are under 18s banned from using sunbeds.
35. The name Lego came from two Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". It also means "I put together" in Latin.
54. Deep Throat is reportedly the most profitable film ever. It was made for $25,000 (£13,700) and has grossed more than $600m.
81. George Bernard Shaw named his shed after the UK capital so that when visitors called they could be told he was away in London.
94. Bill Gates does not have an iPod.
100. Musical instrument shops must pay an annual royalty to cover shoppers who perform a recognisable riff before they buy, thereby making a "public performance".
Hey ho...
Funny stuff here as well...
A site dedicated to the Oriental (Asian or whatever you want to call people from that region of the World) attempts at English translation.
Countdown to the end of 2005...

Littl'un crawled into bed with us around 2am and stayed there. I was too tired to fight with him.
Took ALL my watches apart today and listed all the batteries which need replacing. Around 16! Off out on a stroll with the littl'un and his wagon! Lots of fun.
Went to Under the Sea in CCity and saw Billy Baldwin with his kid. Yes, the stars have to do things with their kids too. Bought a ton of fruit for smoothies tomorrow. I'll get my kid to eat (or even drink) healthy if it kills me...
Checked out the castings on LACasting and saw a couple of postings from CDs who had a serious lack of talent actually turn up for their auditions. Seemingly, the agents have no clue as to who of their talent is around and who's out of town (it would seem that most of them are).
Bed early in expectation of an early rise...

Spent much of today in our storage unit tidying up. Loads of rubbish/trash and tons of fun stuff to go thru! Found my old Casio SF r20 which I may use again - I'll try and start a retro PDA trend. I think people are sick and tired of having their tech tools superceded by something half the size and twice the speed as soon as they walk out of the store. So, why not go ULTRA retro and use something that's TWENTY years old! Look at these specs. Hi viz greyscale widescreen, 256K of memory, NO USB, NO IR, NO BLUETOOTH.No CF expansion slot, NO WIFI, NO mp3 or Video playback. Computer hook up with an enormous, unwieldy cable. Fantastic! Also found an HP Jornada 420. That's SIX years old and works on Windows CE! Marvellous.
Burnt the first DVD on the 'puter too. The video was a little choppy but I suppose I'll tinker with the capture settings to solve it. Used Roxio as it had the best capture quality. Captured at 720 x 526 - might shrink that too. Took 4 hours to burn! Definitely have to sort that out.
Received my SAG card today! Yahoo!
Also, my friend Gary left me a message to say that there's two pictures of me in next month's issue of "American Cinematogropher" magazine. Cheers Gary! Really great article.
I remember the camera we used was very, very special and the shots looked absolutely AMAZING using only the light from Hollywood Boulevard. If you're interested, it was an Arri D20, one of only six in the world, I think. There was a three man group from Arri on the shoot with us. Basically it's a top-end (actually, it's THE top-end) HD camera that thinks it's a 35mm camera! Check it out here.

OK, he was up EARLY again. Ready to go! Super awake and wanting to play. Hey, it's fun to be 2 and a half! Ah well, some early TV for us both I guess. Rediscovered Corn Flakes this morning.
Went to the audition for AOL today. Quite a funny one actually (I love auditions where you actually get to do something interesting, rather than just stand they and act like a divvie). Anyway, picture a rather large lady and I sitting astride a small table with a large shovel in our hands and, voila! - we are in a row boat. Ah, the wonder of imagination. The lady couldn't have been more unlikely to be my 'wife' but, hey, whoever signs in and gets paired up with you - that's the one you go 'on tape' with (I say 'on tape', it's more likely to be recordable DVD these days). Saw J there as well. He's in the Getty show with me. Small world, eh? (But I wouldn't like to paint it).
Washed the car and EZ Lubed the car ($49 bucks later). Read the LA Times from Christmas day while I was there. OK, I'm going to RANT now. Is it just me or does Ebert and Roper piss you off too? Not to look at - they're as interesting or as ugly as anyone else, I suppose. No, it's their mindless, stupid and downright idiotic 'Two thumbs up' phrase. Oh, and if they really like something, 'Two thumbs WAY up'. I cannot believe they have taken the intellectual process of considering the merits of a movie, the plot, the cinematography, the performances and all the other facets of what is a complex project (in most cases) and boiled it down to what is the journalistic equivalent of a bag of McDonalds fries.
It galled me even more to see this idiotic phrase alongside more intelligent quotes from critics with more than half a brain. Oh, and did you know that they've actually trademarked their completely worthless tripe? Check it out, I kid you not. What a load of bollocks.
Anyway, installed a new video/dvd combi player for M so she can play her videos (remember those? Small plastic rectangles with magnetic tape inside). Hacked the DVD side so I can play all my UK DVDs - Ho hum...
Monkey took 2 hours to get to sleep tonight...Bloody hell.

Great. Monkey decides to wake us up at 4am by climbing over me to get into bed. If he fell asleep with us, it wouldn't be so bad but he doesn't. SO, back to his bedroom, screaming all the way. Marvellous. Takes an hour and a half of M and I trying to coax him back to sleep. EVENTUALLY, he falls asleep again until 9am.
Up and out. M wants to go shopping.
Get an email about an audition tomorrow which the Casting Director herself has contacted me for. This lady is so amazing (she's the one who booked me for the original CocaCola pre-viz job).
Back to today... Littl'un puts up a fight before bed as usual but he fell asleep with Daddy reading four Thomas stories to him (the book is beautiful - the original illustrations and stories from the Rev himself).
zzzzzzzzzz....

Sunday, December 25, 2005

Christmas started at 6am when the monkey decided to come and get us out of bed.
Well, he was pretty chuffed with all of his pressies as you can imagine.
The day was full of smiles and photos and cries of "thank you Mummy, thank you Daddy". Ahhh. Chrimbo is for the kids, isn't it?
Went for a Griswold family walk in the afternoon with Daisy (wearing her 'elf' costume - very WeHo) and monkey riding in his new wagon! A grin from ear to ear all the way around the block!
Yummy dins-dins and we took a plate of food to Rocky who lives down the street in the care home.
Littl'un decided to have a pink fit and not go to sleep for, oh, an hour or two once we'd put him to bed. That was fun.
Bed pretty early as it had been a long day and we knew that he would probably get up early again tomorrow.
Deck the halls....
