new performance space in LA for S&D - amazing.
Bloody hot - 90s
Dreadful acting, delivery, direction and editing (tons of badly delivered exposition) in BBC's 2006 Rosemary and Thyme - awful

Friday was a day for writing a ton of letter to the casting directors of various features and tv shows in production. It probably won't do anything but you can't win the raffle if you haven't bought a ticket, can you?!
So, to recap...
I have a theatrical agent who seemingly has no pulse, well, no visible signs of life anyway.
They also happen to be my commercial agent, with as much activity on that front as theatrical.
I have a new commercial agent who is chomping at the bit to sign me but that would leave me with no theatrical agent (is a bad one better than none at all? I think it is). They would also be my VO agent.
I have spoken to a mgr who is 'trying' to help me by referring me to some half decent agents but who won't return my calls or emails, so I can't push that one.
I have a friend who has given me the name of their agent (incredibly big NY/LA agent) but who probably won't take me without credits.
Yes, options but frustrating complicated ones...
Watched "Mrs Henderson Presents..." which was absolutely superb on all counts. Cast, story, screenplay, performances. Brilliant.
There's a scene where Mrs Henderson was speaking to her late son's headstone and it just struck me, deeply. Funny that...

Thursday. Spoon river 'series' class based on the Baker book, Cops. Imaginary circumstances brought us all together and gave us an opportunity to talk about what it was like for each of us to be a cop and to relate experiences and tell stories to one another (based on the real stories in the book). A fantastic two hours. Emotional, real and incredibly visceral. Laughing, crying, always listening intently to the other people as they spoke and telling our stories as they happened to us. It was incredible. No-one 'played' at being a cop (that's not how to 'act', by the way), we were just all real people talking to each other and telling our own stories. Wow.
Received my Health pack from SAG!! Woohoo! Yes, I finally qualified for the health plan. I cannot believe it. It's quite an achievement, honest, and it takes the pressure off not being insured in this damn country with no free healthcare. You could bloody die here and no-one would give a toss. Anyway, hoorah!

Wednesday. Class with S.
Wasn't planning on doing it, but I ended up doing the scene with M. Stopped after two minutes and S said to do it again but just do this. She is your wife and she's always screwing up and he told M that I was her husband (natch) and he's an idiot. Try that and see what happens. So, we went back, prepared for a minute and then came back out. Unfettered by the lines, we had an incredible five minute scene where we were husband & wife with those POVs he gave us. Fantastic and real. It was also incredible how much of the lines actually came out of us, mostly in our own words which is how it should be at this stage of the scene rehearsal. Just by forgetting the lines and concentrating on each other and how we felt, it became alive, real and emotional. I was shaking by the end. Brilliant!
Made a couple of calls in the afternoon. Still waiting for the mgr to get back to me after last week's meeting.
Looking for that song for my audition on Tuesday. Hollywood sheet music are trying to find it for me too. They're amazing!

Tuesday. M & I lay out in the back garden and watched the clouds go by... nice.

Monday was a holiday in the US (also in the UK, a late "Mayday") and we relaxed. We went over to our friends' new house in Pasadena. Wow, it's massive with a huge garden and an incredible pool! Littl'un put on a life jacket and played with his friend around the pool. Daddy swam around and we had loads of wet fun. Snacks followed along with some great chat. Nice and warm... a wonderful day!
I FINALLY POSTED THE SHORT ONLINE!! HERE IT IS!! (that's enough capital letters I think...)

Sunday.
General stuff around the house. Cleaned up the back yard.
Gav came over in the afternoon and we basically hung out in the garden and the house for the rest of the day. Fired up the BBQ and enjoyed that all American Memorial day weekend pastime, the 'Cookout'!

Saturday.
Party time in the Hills! Littl'un's buddy is having his party.
Very cool, lots of fun and games including a reptile man! Lots of creepy crawlies and scary things in lots of baskets. The kids loved it.
Nice and warm, good food, good comapny and lots of chat.
