Blighty comes to Tinseltown

Monday. Class - worked with R. We came up with another complex relationship (see last week!) but it seemed to go quite well! Saw G at the park. He's a commercial director and, as our kids play together and go to the same school, we're sort of 'nodding' acquaintances, you know, we say hi, how are you and catch up when we see each other. Anyway, we got onto what we were both doing and I told him things were a little slow but I'm working on various things to stay focused and active. He said that we should maybe work on a 'spec' commercial together (this is a project where the end result is purely for exposure or 'reel' material) and I told him about an idea I have for a series of several commercials. I spun him the idea and he loved it! I told him I'd finish it off and let him have a gander at the script. Cool.
Tuesday. Finished the spec commercial script and registered it. Also worked on the new website (more on that later....)
Wednesday. TG feast at munchkin's school. Ahhh!
Thursday. Thanksgiving. Had a nice quiet day at home and ate lots, played games and generally had a nice day. For my UK readers, Thanksgiving is very much like Christmas Day (Turkey, family, TV, no Queen's speech of course) but a month early. Like a pre-match warm-up really. Oh, we have Sales on the next day too, a little like the UK sales which start on the 27th Dec!
Friday. Stuff at home and off to another TG din-dins over at B & R's house. Met their mum and step dad and the kids played together.

Hummm.... interesting....

You are The Magician

Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.

Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.

The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Monday - class with T. K still outta town (?) so I worked with M. Came up with a pretty complex relationship and imagcirs so it didn't hold together too well! That's what class is for though, innit! Other stuff - I forget.
Tuesday - searched for a house to move to in Grenada Hills. Some nice places but nothing we REALLY wanted to end up in. Everything we saw would definitely be a 'make do' which is what neither of us want. Long day, lots of driving.
Wednesday - Reh with Y and chatted about new short then at M's for our final SR on Thurs.
Thurs - Final SR - Did Davis Matlock and was judged "outstanding" - so I guess I peaked at the end! Nursery rhymes in the New Year - yes, I'm mystified as well. I'll keep you posted. Saw that the Las Vegas SaL was back out on the breakdowns so I spoke to my manager to get me back in there to jolly well book the bloody thing. The part is definitely me and I want it! Chatted to a commercial director friend who said that we should work together and so I outlined some ideas for some spec commercials I have and he said he LOVED them. Try and film before Christmas with any luck.
Friday - Stuff at home. Planning new biz website. Writing stuff for the spec commercials. Had two spooky moments considering the SaL thing. I'm chatting to M about it when all of a sudden, my audition song from the show comes onto the radio. Hum... then I'm walking back from the shops and I saw Mike Nichols in a white Merc going past me. If it wasn't him, it was his doppleganger, seriously. Something is telling me to stay in there and chase the part! Stayed up late and played XIII for the first time in two years! Superb.
Saturday - B'day party for Monkey's friend who's two, then off to school for the evening while we have dinner and a movie. Flushed Away - excellent! Lots of super one liners. Great stuff! "My bum was like the Japanese flag" being one of my favourites!
